New R410A Models Now Available
Tuesday, June 13, 2006
Suwanee, Ga. -
Mitsubishi Electric HVAC Advanced Products Division, Suwanee, Ga.,
has recently transitioned all CITY MULTI® and Mr.
Slim® units to R410A refrigerant in support of The
Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, an
international agreement designed to protect the stratospheric ozone
layer, according to Paul Doppel, director of product
development.
"The addition of the R410A refrigerant to all new HVAC equipment is
not only an important step towards improving the performance of our
systems, but also demonstrates our leadership role within the
industry" says Doppel. "We believed that it was important to make
our systems compatible with R410A well before the Protocol's 2010
deadline, providing our end-users with the best product available
as soon as possible." CITY MULTI indoor units are compatible with
either R22 or R410A refrigerants. The current indoor models have
been replaced by the new R22/R410A-compatible indoor units with the
"-E" designation at the end of the model number.
Three new CITY MULTI R2-Series outdoor units, which provide
simultaneous cooling and heating, and three new Y-Series outdoor
units, which offer a choice of cooling or heating, are now
available. All six models use R410A refrigerant. Each series now
has 72,000-, 96,000- and 108,000-Btu/h-capacity units and all use
the R410A refrigerant and also are available with seacoast
anti-corrosion protection.
The new CITY MULTI S-Series outdoor units and 6,000 Btu/h capacity
indoor units also use R410A refrigerant. The S-Series provides a
choice of cooling only or heat pump applications and are ideal for
smaller commercial or residential applications because they have a
capacity of 48,000 Btu/h. Due to the number of indoor units and a
multitude of combinations of indoor and outdoor units, it is
impossible to test CITY MULTI systems against current Department of
Energy (DOE) central air-conditioning heat pump procedures.
Therefore, the DOE has granted Mitsubishi Electric HVAC an interim
waiver from the test procedure. New models in the Mr. Slim line of
products also have made the transition from R22 to R410A
refrigerant. The new M- and P-Series cooling only, heat pump and
inverter models have been redesigned to provide new features and
benefits, including upgrading to R410A refrigerant.
