New Mitsubishi Electric Outdoor Unit Connects Up to Eight Zones
Monday, May 10, 2010
SUWANEE, Ga., May 10, 2010 - The new MXZ-8B48NA outdoor unit from Mitsubishi Electric Cooling and Heating Solutions (Mitsubishi Electric) can connect with up to eight indoor units to provide eight individual zones of comfort - an industry exclusive and major advancement in mini-split cooling and heating capabilities. Using a single outdoor unit with up to eight zones allows greater flexibility in both application and product selection.
"The MXZ-8B48NA is unlike any system available in the North American market at this time. It allows more versatility and provides consumers with innovative comfort solutions in multi-zone applications," says Chuck Applebee, product manager, Mitsubishi Electric. "Its ability to cool and heat up to eight zones with one outdoor unit provides users with an energy-efficient cooling and heating solution with an even smaller outdoor footprint. Branch box refrigeration piping options allow a single lineset from the outdoor unit into a structure, reducing the amount of copper and the number of connections required."
The 4-ton rated MXZ-8B48NA unit features a total line length of 377 feet and can connect up to two styles of branch boxes - three and five port - which is where the LEVs are located, allowing the MXZ-B system to cover a wide range of indoor locations. The MXZ-Series outdoor units can be connected to wall-mounted, floor-mounted or ducted indoor units with capacities ranging from 6,000 to 24,000 BTU/h.
The MXZ multi-zone systems also feature the ENERGY STAR®-rated MXZ-3B24NA unit which qualifies for residential tax credits, as stipulated in the 2009 Stimulus Bill, when paired with two MSZ-GE06NA and one MSZ-GE09NA indoor units.
The ENERGY STAR-rated MXZ-2B20NA unit is also eligible for residential tax credits when paired with two MSZ-GE09NA indoor units.
